St. Senan'sThe parish church dedicated to St.Senan was opened in 1862. According to the parish records it was built by Rev.John Cahill P.P. “at his own expense”. He is buried in the Church grounds. The church it replaced, on a different site became a school. Bishop W Keane visited the parish in 1859 . Among his observations he said “that he found three chapels , one at Matehy one at Berrings, both requiring improvement, and a new one at Cloghroe, handsomely veiled but still unfinished” Our Parish Church has recently undergone major renovations. Bishop William Crean celebrated the Mass of Dedication on Saturday 19th December.

St. Mary'sSt.Mary’s Church Berrings was built when Rev.Maurice Lane P.P. 1816-1822 was Parish Priest He is buried in Matehy graveyard. Prior to this church being built there was a chapel of ease in the townland of Kilmurry, “The Church of Mary”. It was in use until the Reformation.

St. Joseph'sSt.Joseph’s church Matehy The present church is the third church on this sie. It was dedicated on the 3rd October 1875 by the then bishop of Cloyne Bishop McCarthy. To mark the Millennium and to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the dedication the church was totally renovated by the people of the area as part of the “Matehy Millennium Project”. The man responsible for building the church was Rev.Tim O Connell, C.C. When he was transferred to the Parish of Mitchelstown in 1878 he became a leading light in the Land League on behalf of the tenants ofthe Kingston estate. The Parish Priest of Inniscarra, at the time of the building of the church was, Rev.Thomas Linley Murray. He was a renowned Gaelic scholar. In his obituary published in the “Cork Examiner” on Monday, 25th may 1891, he was described as “the oldest priest in Ireland”. He was 91. He is buried in Cloghroe church grounds.
